Former Mocs Football Player Jordan Tippit Joins UTC Coaching Staff

( UTC head  football coach Rusty Wright announced the addition of former Moc Jordan Tippit to his staff today.  Tippit joins the Chattanooga staff as a defensive assistant for the 2019 season.

“Jordan was very impressive when he interviewed for the position on our staff,” stated Wright.  “He has made a commitment to coaching as a career and has worked hard to prepare for this opportunity.  I am excited about having him on our staff and the impact he can have on our program and our student-athletes.”

Tippit spent last season as a graduate assistant at Troy.  There he helped the Trojans to a school-record, fourth-straight bowl win.  They defeated Buffalo 42-32 in the Dollar General Bowl to cap off a 10-3 season.

“I am ecstatic for the opportunity to work at my alma mater!,” exclaimed Tippit.  “Chattanooga is a second home to me and I couldn’t be more excited to continue my coaching career where my teammates and I helped lay the foundation for a championship program!”

Prior to working on Neal Brown’s staff, Tippit was a Defensive Assistant at NCAA Division III Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.  There he helped the Hawks to a 9-2 record and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Playoffs.  Huntingdon also won the USA South Athletic Conference championship with a 7-0 mark in league play.   He began his coaching career as an outside linebackers coach at Boyd Buchanan High School in Chattanooga.

Tippit graduated from UTC in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration.  As a student-athlete for the Mocs, he made 30 starts in the 41 games during his four-year career.  He was a team captain as a senior in 2011 and finished tied for sixth in career interceptions with nine. He was a first-team All-Southern Conference as a sophomore.

Tippit was a three-sport athlete at Buckhorn High School and earned All-Metro honors in his final two seasons of football.
