Former Mocs QB Jacob Huesman Excited For Tryout With Pittsburgh Steelers

Chattanooga-(WDEF) Following the NFL Draft on Saturday, former Mocs quarterback Jacob Huesman was invited to try-out for the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.
Huesman will get three days to try and impress the team enough that they’ll want to bring him back for training camp this summer.
Knowing he’ll be working out for an NFL team this weekend will be a humbling experience for Jacob Huesman.
Said Huesman-“Great organization. For them to think highly enough of me to invite me to mini-camp, it’s huge. I couldn’t be more excited.”
Since earning the try-out, Huesman says he has received of encouragement.
Said Huesman-“The support I got from everybody was absolutely tremendous. It kind of reminded me of how big of a deal this was.”
Huesman will work out twice a day, Friday through Sunday with one goal in mind.
Said Huesman-“Ideally after Sunday or at some point during the weekend, I’ll earn the right to be under contract.”
Huesman is anxious to show off his quarterback skills.
Said Huesman-“From day one, I’m going to go up there and prove I can play quarterback. There will be a very limited number of quarterbacks there, so I’m expecting to be able to take a lot of reps.”
Huesman ran for over four-thousand yards during his career at UTC, but the NFL can be rough on running quarterbacks. But Huesman believes his running skills should be an asset.
Said Huesman-“You know if stuff starts to break-down, I think it will help avoid negative plays. I think it’s something valuable teams can use.”
