Former Rhea County Sheriff, Ola Harris, passes away
RHEA COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Rhea County Sheriffs Department announced on Christmas the passing of former Rhea County Sheriff, Ola Harris.
Harris served as Sheriff for two terms in 1968 to 1974.
Harris was known in the 1960s to aid in many moonshine still busts when illegal moonshine underground businesses thrived in Tennessee.
He would have turned 100 years old on May 4, 2026.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at The Grove in Dayton from 11 AM – 2 PM, with burial immediately following at Summer City Cemetery on Dayton Mountain.
