Former SAU Gymnast indicted on child sex charges

COLLEGEDALE, Tennessee(WDEF) – A former Southern Adventist University gymnast was indicted for child exploitation by means of electronics and soliciting a minor.

According to Collegdale investigators, Ari Guindon, 25, was repeatedly sending explicit images to a female minor. The photos were sent to her cell phone via SnapChat.

The young victim told police that it was an ongoing problem and that she had asked Guindon to stop.

According to police, Guindon and the victim knew each other through different gymnastic teams but the two never had any kind of relationship.

The crimes reportedly happened back in March.

When school leaders learned of the allegations, Guindon was banned from being on school grounds.

According to a Southern Adventist University spokesperson, Guindon was studying to become a school teacher. That spokesperson also said "that any communications Guindon had with minors did did not occur as a result of his athletic work for the university."
