Former Southern University Gymnast Charged with Exploitation of Minor

Collegedale (WDEF)  A former Southern Adventist University gymnast is charged and kicked off school grounds.

Police say he sent sexually explicit images to an underage girl.

WDEF News 12’s Erik Avanier joins us Live from Collegedale Police headquarters with more on the suspect.

His name is Ari Guindon and he’s been charged with exploitation of a minor by electronic means.

According to the indictment papers, the alleged incident happened back in March.

A warrant was quickly issued for Guindon’s arrest.

On April 1st he turned himself in to authorities and bonded out of jail.

But Yesterday a grand jury indicted Guindon.

Back in March, Southern Adventist University reportedly got wind of the allegations and removed him from any work that required interactions with minors since he was studying to become a teacher. 

Guindon no longer allowed on campus.
