Fort Payne harassment suspect turned himself in after deputy shoots his dogs

Fort Payne, AL (WDEF) – Dekalb County Sheriff’s deputies arrest 58-year-old Van Akins of Fort Payne Thursday.

He turned himself in on a warrant for harassment taken out by a family member.

A deputy tried to serve the warrant Tuesday, but had to use lethal force on Akins’ dogs when they came at him in an aggressive manner.
