Fox Mountain wildfire spreads into Alabama
DADE COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – The Fox Mountain wildfire in Dade County continues to burn Wednesday night.
Georgia Forestry Commission officials say because of the dry conditions and steady wind, the blaze is spreading into Alabama.
Eight homes are still considered threatened but are not considered to be in imminent danger.
Georgia Forestry Commission crews are being assisted by the Alabama Forestry Commission, the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Together they have donated a 20-person helicopter crew, two bulldozers, as well as a helicopter and 7 man hand crew.
The Georgia Forestry spokesperson warns drivers that smoke from the fire can cause visibility problems at night as the smoke drops down into valley areas.
