Free Medical, Dental, and Vision Services in Hamilton County

OOLTEWAH, TN (WDEF) – No questions asked.

Line up outside Ooltewah High School by ten o’clock Friday night and you can get free medical, dental, or vision services Saturday morning.

Bob Nevil, the event Chairman, says, "All we ask for is their name and address and their medical history if they’re taking any medications or if they have any serious medical history that we need to be aware of."

The first 400 people are guaranteed one service a day.

Nevil adds, "If you need an extraction, you would come one day, and if you need glasses, you would have to come the other day."

That’s right, the Remote Area Clinic is chalk full of professionals and volunteers for two days.

But again, you have to line up by 10 pm Friday or 10 pm Saturday to claim your spot in line.

Nevil says, "Dental care will consist of fillings, extractions, and cleanings."

There will also be two vision vans set up with equipment to manufacture eye glasses on site.

Breast and pelvic exams will also be conducted.

Ron Brewer, the Clinic Manager, says, "Adults, they fall through the cracks. Maybe they can afford a new dollars for a medical policy, but they don’t have the dental or vision policy."

And volunteers, like Sara Reichert, understand that.

That’s why she drove from Indiana to be here.

Others came from as far as California to volunteer their time.

Reichert adds, "People are very hard working and sometimes the system can’t accommodate the specific situations, so I’m really excited to be here."

2012 was the last time Hamilton County hosted a RAM clinic.

We’re told they saw 880 patients and gave away more than $371,000 worth of medical care.

They’re hoping for the same this time around.

Reichert adds, "It’s exciting, it’s a privilege."

The clinic is open from 6 am until 4 pm Saturday, and 6 am until 3 pm on Sunday.

If you missed this clinic, RAM will be coming to Cleveland next year.
