FreightWaves grows in Chattanooga, adds 260 jobs

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – It’s news and analytics on the trucking transportation world that FreightWaves provides.

The company also sells data services to trucking companies.

“With what Amazon is doing, same-day, next-day, that’s just going to increase. The importance of real-time transportation is going to increase and because of the fact that real-time transportation is important, data is exponentially more important,” FreightWaves CEO Craig Fuller said.

The startup company is based in Chattanooga and is growing.

Last September FreightWaves had 11 employees.

This September they had 68 employees.

Now, over the next few years, the company plans to add 260 new jobs.

“For an early stage company, it’s really a sign of commitment by their investors that are backing the project and also the ability to scale with their company base,” Economic Development Vice President for Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce Charles Wood said.

FreightWaves will continue their operations in Chattanooga.

The company is moving its headquarters into a new spot downtown.

“What’s great about this community and this broader region is that there are more people connected to transportation logistics in Chattanooga than any where else in North America, and so what makes us such a power city is the people that make up this community that understand the business. That understand how to help project what’s happen in the business and are able to help us build products that people want,” Fuller said.

“I think that FreightWaves and what they’re doing here will have a long standing impact on the community,” Wood.

Fuller is no stranger to the transportation industry.

His father started U.S. Xpress.
