From The Archives: Honoring Cleveland’s Rhyne Howard
CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Bradley County Commission started the ball rolling this week on honoring a local sports hero.
They passed a proposal to rename a stretch of South Lee Highway after Bradley Central basketball star Rhyne Howard.
It still must be approved by the city of Cleveland and the Tennessee legislature.
Rhyne is still climbing the heights of her basketball career, but she has already made her mark.
She was a record-breaking star in high school and then later in college at Kentucky.
Rhyne has just begun her career in the WNBA but has already won rookie of the year after her first season with the Atlanta Dream.
So as the drive to name a local highway after her continues, let’s look back at stories from our coverage of her career at Bradley Central and then Kentucky.
