Fundraiser for Major Tommy Bradford on Saturday

TRENTON, Georgia (WDEF) – A fundraiser will be held next Saturday to benefit Major Tommy Bradford of the Dade County Sheriff’s department.

He’s the deputy who lost his leg when he was hit by a speeding, runaway driver last August.

Wes Hixson, who owns Outdoor Adventures in Dade county, has been holding annual office open houses for the past 18 years.

He says the silent and live auction this year will include high end items like a Mercedes, and custom rifles.

The proceeds will go to Major Bradford and his family, to help with medical bills and the cost of a prosthetic leg.

Wes Hixson of Hixson’s Outdoor Adventures says “We have raised in the past, I’ve worked with the Sheriff’s Office on other projects, and we’ve raised anywhere from thirty to eighty thousand dollars.”

Bradford is heading to Athens tomorrow to be fitted for a prosthetic leg.
