Furman Coach Has High Praise For Mocs Casey Jones
Mocs basketball coach Will Wade says he has a few momentum plays that he likes to call when he believes his team needs a lift.
Most of them likely involve athletic forward Casey Jones.
With Furman trying to creep back into Saturday’s game in the second half, the Mocs called Jones number on an alley-oop, and that seemed to kick start the team again.
Jones then broke off a sweet spin move on UTC’s next series for a basket.
Jones finished with 20-points and eleven boards.
But the junior forward seemed more excited about his defense, which included a blocked shot.
Mocs went on to win 72-60, and Furman’s coach seems to think UTC has a star in the making with Casey Jones.
Said Furman coach Niko Medved,"I think, and I’m biased. I think Casey Jones is one of the best players in the league. He’s absolutely terrific. He kills us ever time. I thought he was outstanding in the second half where he really took the game over for them."
Said Jones,"I was just out there playing in the flow of the game. It’s easier for me to focus on getting a bucket like that. I just focus on defense, and things like that come for me."
