Gators Bristle at Underdog Status Against Third Ranked Georgia

Third ranked Georgia is a heavy favorite to finally beat the Gators.
Florida has owned this annual showdown in Jacksonville having won three straight and 14 of the last twenty meetings.
Maybe that’s why the Gators seem to bristle at being a 14-point underdog.
Said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart:”All of the players really enjoy that atmosphere. The 50/50 stands. Great opportunity to go play a great football team.”
Said Florida head coach Jim McElwain:”One of those games where momentum can go both sides because the stadium is actually cut in half.”
Reporter:”You guys are huge underdogs in this game. Do you guys like that? Can you feed off that?”
Said Florida linebacker Kylan Johnson:”Oh yeah. It’s motivational. (chuckles) It’s very motivational to be the underdog.”
Said Smart:”It’s not about what the favorite is or what the line is. It’s going to boil down to how we play.”
Said Florida defensive back Chauncey Gardner:”Like I said, we have one of the best defenses in the nation. One of the best in the SEC in my eyes. If they feel like they can beat us, so be it.”
Said Florida receiver Josh Hammond:”Definitely brings a lot of confidence to us knowing that Georgia is not a team we lose to. So I think that’s the message in the locker room right now. They might be the number two team in the country, but they can’t beat Florida.”
Reporter:”Some of them were pretty confident. Maybe even borderline cocky. Are you okay with that?”
Said McElwain:”I would hope they’re confident. I see it as they are excited as well.”
Said Georgia defensive back Aaron Davis:”I haven’t beaten them since I’ve been here and been apart of the actual playing. You can use that to channel energy as far as motivation.”
Said Georgia tight end Jeb Blazevich:”Obviously this is a special season, but this is something where we finally get another opportunity to beat these guys, which we haven’t been able to do in my career yet. This is something where we’ve got nothing left to lose. Got to go all out and get a win.”
Reporter:”Georgia has looked pretty good so far, but no team is perfect. What do you see as the main weaknesses that you can attack this weekend?”
Said McElwain:”I’m not going to give Kirby the game plan. I’ll say this. They are perfect. How’s that. They’ve got nothing to work on.”
