Georgia Home Game Highlights Mocs Basketball Schedule

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—Chattanooga Mocs Head Basketball Coach Will Wade announced the 2014-15 schedule today. His second season features 17 home dates and trips to Wisconsin and Butler.

“There are 17 games in McKenzie Arena this season,” Wade stated. “That was a priority. Our students and fans bring positive energy and ‘chaos’ for our team.

“The quality of the home schedule is important,” Wade added. “We have Georgia and UAB coming here. That’s big for our program. We are also starting series with Tennessee Tech and Lipscomb which was a focus…to get in-state teams on the schedule.”

The season opens with a flourish. The Mocs play eight times in 19 days beginning on Friday, November 14, with Hiwassee. The squad immediately hits the road for games at Wisconsin and Butler on the 16th and 18th before heading to Tennessee Tech on the 22nd.

The contests against the Badgers and Bulldogs are part of the Battle 4 Atlantis event. The Mocs host a mainland bracket after the TTU game with Robert Morris, Coastal Carolina and Louisiana-Monroe. That trio visits McKenzie Arena Thanksgiving week with two games each on the 26th and 27th. They wrap up November two nights later with a game at Kennesaw State.

December opens with Georgia coming to McKenzie Arena on the second. It’s the first visit from an SEC school since 10th-ranked Tennessee escaped the Roundhouse with a 76-70 win on December 4, 2007. After a December 8 visit from Montreat, coached by former Moc Lincoln Walters, Chattanooga starts Southern Conference play at The Citadel on December 11.

Northern Kentucky comes to the Scenic City on the 16th before a trip to Middle Tennessee (Dec. 19). The final two matchups of the month sandwich the holiday break. UAB drops in on December 22 with Lipscomb invading McKenzie Arena a week later on the 29th.

The conference home opener begins the New Year. Furman (Jan. 3), Wofford (Jan. 5) and Western Carolina (Jan. 8) give the Mocs three home dates to start January. This year’s SoCon slate is a 10-team, round robin with 18 games – nine home and nine away.

The Southern Conference Championship returns to Asheville, N.C., March 6-9. All 10 teams invade the site of 15 league tourneys in the last 31 years and four of Chattanooga’s 10 championships.
