Georgia man convicted for molesting a young girl for years

Two other family members testified he did the same to them

LAFAYETTE, Georgia (WDEF) – A jury last week convicted a Walker County man of sexual abuse of a child.

The convictions were for Rape, Aggravated Sexual Battery, Aggravated Sodomy, Aggravated Child Molestation, Sexual Battery against
a Child and Child Molestation.

The 13 year old victim showed her father Snapchat photos of Wesley Lebron Romine touching her in inappropriate ways.

She eventually told investigators that he had molested her for over an eight year period.

She testified at the trial that she took photos with her phone of the suspect molesting her because she didn’t think anyone would believe her.

Two other adult family members also testified that Romine abused them for years.

After the verdict, one of them stated ”we can now have closure and know that someone finally believed us.”

The judge sentenced Romine to five consecutive Life sentences, followed by 63 years.

District Attorney Arnt stated “This case shows the true devastation that child sexual abuse causes. Two women have spent most of their lives trying to cope with what this child molester did to them; and even though it had been well over thirty years since this defendant last molested them, both of these witnesses broke down in tears when describing their abuse at the defendant’s hands.”
