Georgia Offense Hoping to Find Points on Gamecocks Turf

Georgia started the season with a bang, blasting Clemson with a huge fourth quarter performance.

Now they’ll try to carry that sizzle to a place they fizzle in their SEC opener against the Gamecocks.

   Columbia, South Carolina. It’s where Georgia’s offense goes to die.

The Dawgs have never scored more than 20 points in their last nine trips to Williams Brice Stadium.

Said UGA head coach Mark Richt,"For whatever reason, we just have not had our best offensive performances there. We’ve just got to execute the plan."

Said South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier,"We have held them under 20 here. Then again, we didn’t think Texas A&M was going to roll up 52 on us either."

   Perhaps the coin toss will be the key for Georgia.

Said Richt,"It’s not much of a secret that if we win the coin toss, we’ll defer. I want the ball to start the second half."

Said UGA quarterback Hutson Mason,"The importance of kind of starting fast. Don’t get behind the eight-ball so to speak. But also this is the SEC, so not everything is going to go your way."

  Georgia will likely try to give the Gamecocks a steady dose of Todd Gurley, who had a huge second half against Clemson.

Reporter-"Can you just talk about the way Georgia strategized against Clemson to kind of make it a fourth quarter game. Maybe saving Gurley."

Said Spurrier,"Is that what they did on purpose? (laughter) I think Mark Richt asked Todd Gurley, how many times have you carried the ball at halftime. And he said, not much coach. He said, well hopefully we will get it to you. I think I read that somewhere. He’s probably the leading Heisman candidate right now. We’ve got to tackle him, but they’ve got a bunch of other backs too. We’ve just got to play football."
