Georgia Special Election headed to runoff
David Ralston's widow, Sheree Ralston will face Johnny Chastain on January 31
ATLANTA, Georgia (WDEF) – The Special Election to replace north Georgia representative David Ralston is headed for a runoff.
Ralston’s widow, Sheree Ralston led the field of five candidates with 45% of the vote.
But since she did not get a majority of the vote, she will face second place finisher Johnny Chastain in a runoff on January 31st.
The 7th District includes Fannin, Gilmer and part of Dawson counties.
David Ralson, who was a long-time Speaker of the House, died in November.
Rep. Jon Burns has already been selected to replace him as the new Speaker.
