Georgia to Match High School Seniors with Colleges
DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) – High school seniors in Georgia will receive a very special letter soon.
The Georgia Match program was announced earlier this week by Governor Brian Kemp.
The program matches high school seniors with colleges they are eligible for.
They are matched based off their Hope G.P.A.
One of the schools participating in the program is Dalton State College, who say they are excited to connect with students who might have not previously considered going to college.
The President of Dalton State College, Dr. John Fuchko, said, “It was there but it’s creating the possibility of our students who maybe they didn’t quite realize the colleges that were available to them or universities they could attend, or maybe they didn’t know it was meant for them, maybe they were, “Oh college is something somebody else will be doing, it’s not for me. This is letting them know they have a future with us.”
Georgia high school seniors should expect their letters within the next week.
They are encouraged to apply to the colleges they are matched up with in November, when many colleges, including Dalton State, will waive their application fees.
