German ceremony

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) – Kids at Ooltewah Elementary now know a little more about a German ceremony.

The school has been teaching German lessons to German and American kids since 2014.

As part of an effort to integrate both cultures, school officials started a German tradition for the first full day of school for Kindergarten.

Each Kindergarten student received a “Schultüte” on their first day with their entire class.

It’s a cone full of school supplies.

McKee Foods, Chattanooga Bakery, Wrigley, and Creative Business Form donated the supplies to make the event possible.

Ooltewah Elementary School parents gave up their time to help make the cones.
