Get into Point Park for free to celebrate National Parks week

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Georgia (WDEF) – If you’ve never been to Point Park, now may be your chance.

The Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will waive the entrance fee to enter Point Park during National Park Week.

That happens from Saturday, April 16 through Sunday, April 24, 2016.

The National Park Service celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

To celebrate, car caravan tours of Chickamauga Battlefield are scheduled at 10 am and at 2 pm on Saturday April 16th and Sunday April 17th.

The following Saturday, a car caravan tour is scheduled at 10 am and a special program exploring the history of the National Park Service is scheduled at 2 pm.

The programs all begin inside the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center.

Ranger-guided walking tours are also scheduled at Point Park for Saturday, April 16th at 11 am and at 2 pm.

One will also occur Sunday, April 17 at 11 am.

Walking tours are also scheduled for Saturday, April 23 and for Sunday, April 24 at 11 am and at 2 pm.

Those programs begin inside the Point Park entrance gate.
