Girl Scouts Honor Local Historian at Annual Luncheon

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachians honored one of their very own Tuesday.

Chattanooga and Hamilton County historian Linda Moss Mines was selected to be the honoree of the Trefoil Society’s annual luncheon at the Waterhouse Pavilion in downtown Chattanooga.

Mines has been heavily involved in Girl Scouts for decades, serving as a troop leader herself for 13 years in Soddy-Daisy.

She says that supporting the mission of the Girl Scouts is vital to continue developing the next generation of women.

Mines said, “I listen to people sometimes lament what the future will look like. They worry about the next generation. I will tell you that in scouting, I look at young women in leadership positions, I look at them preparing themselves to lead this republic. To lead the business, the economy. I don’t have worries about tomorrow.”

Mines says she got to enjoy the honor with her former Girl Scout Troops.
