How about giving Chattanooga music for Christmas?
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – This holiday season, three Chattanooga-associated acts have new music for your consideration.
So give the gift of music and support these local artists:
Jordan Smith is actually from Knoxville, but he did go to Lee University in Cleveland before trying out for The Voice.
He won the contest last fall, then released his first album this summer which debuted at number one on iTunes.
Jordan’s latest project is the Christmas album, Tis The Season.
He admits it is an odd choice for his 2nd album, but he loves Christmas music and has dreamed of making a holiday album for years.
He recorded it during the summer with “Something Beautiful” producer David Foster.
But Jordan is getting plenty of chances to sing his new songs during the season.
He returned to the Voice before Thanksgiving to perform O Holy Night.
Jordan is now on a Christmas tour with Amy Grant and Michael. W. Smith.
(Gift alert!!) You can see him perform Wednesday, Dec. 7th opening for Smith in Nashville.
And he’ll join both Grant and Smith on Friday Dec. 16th in Duluth, Georgia.
Jordan has also recorded a TV special where he sings songs from Tis The Season that will air throughout December across the country (but we can’t tell you where yet) Hope you caught him on other people’s specials over the last 2 weeks.
Tis the Season ranks #5 this week on the iTunes chart.
The country singer who has lived all over the Chattanooga area is celebrating the release of his first, full-length, major label album this week. (Gift Alert!)
It is called, simply enough, Kane Brown.
He co-wrote 7 of the songs on the album and recruited Lauren Alaina to back him up on one track, on What Ifs.
The two were in the choir at LFO high together and Kane credits Lauren with convincing him to sing.
He tells The Boot “I just want my hometown talking about where i’m going — like, ‘He’s killin’ it right now,’ and, ‘I’m so glad he’s doin’ well,’ and I want them to know I’ll always come back, every chance I get. I’m not one of those people who’ll just leave.”

We spent all of 2016 waiting to learn when Lauren Alaina’s second full length album would be released.
She recorded most of the songs more than a year ago, but was waiting on her label to decide when to release it.
To tide us over, they gave us an EP.
Now that her single Road Less Traveled is a hit, the record company has finally decided to release the album on January 27th.
It will be called The Road Less Traveled.
And Lauren gets co-writing credits on all 12 tracks (including her collaboration with Meghan Trainor on the hit).
(Gift Alert!) You can catch her at the Ryman Auditorium on December 13th or with Martina McBride for CMT Next Women of Country Love Unleashed Tour 2017 (Nashville Feb. 11 Ryman Auditorium)
Otherwise, you can still buy the single now, or wait to pre-order the new album.
