GoFundMe raises money for 10-month-old with rare cancer
DAYTON, Tenn. (WDEF) — A GoFundMe is open for an infant in the Dayton area who is battling a rare form of cancer.
On Tuesday, 10-month-old Rylee Burghoff was diagnosed with neuroblastoma.
The family is hoping to raise funds to help pay for medical expenses.
More than $51,000 has been raised by their community in less than 24 hours.
Neuroblastoma is a rare cancer that starts in early nerve cells. Most cases are in children under five years of age, according to cancer.gov.
Rylee Burghoff is the daughter of Miles and Katie Burghoff.
Miles is a professional, competitive bass fisherman, who goes by “Sonar.” He has a website called “Sonar Fishing with Miles Burghoff.”
He has also offered fishing trips along the Tennessee River.
Miles shared the GoFundMe link to his social media pages as well.
Miles says his family will need to move to Memphis in order to get Rylee the appropriate treatment at St. Jude.
