“Good is Not Good Enough” For Alabama as They Fall Hard to Clemson in Title Game

Not many people were picking Clemson to win Monday night, and nobody was predicting a Tigers blow-out. Yet Clemson administered a shocking beat down on Bama, winning 44-16 to claim the national championship.

Alabama was number one all season long, but there was no doubt who was number one on Monday night.
Said Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney:”It was just a complete performance all the way through. I mean our guys had the ‘Eye of the Tiger’.
Freshman QB Trevor Lawrence was phenomenal throwing for nearly 350-yards with three touchdowns to earn offensive MVP honors.
Said Alabama head coach Nick Saban:”Trevor Lawrence is a special talent. I saw him when he was a sophomore, and he was a special player as a sophomore in high school. I mean we tried to cover number 8 who caught the ball. Made a big play. We’re in three deep zone when number 5 catches the ball and 50 yards or 60 yards for a touchdown. So those responsibilities start with me, our staff, and all the coaches, who try to get this guy ready.”
It was almost an un-Saban like coached team from the turnovers and penalties to the strange field goal fake in the third quarter.
Said Saban:”We certainly didn’t play very well tonight, and we had some issues. Couldn’t get off the field on third down. We had plenty of opportunities to score offensively. Had the ball at the one yard line and get a penalty. End up kicking a field goal.”
Said Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa:”We were killing ourselves. We shot ourselves in the foot. By me throwing that interception for a touchdown, and then not finishing drives the way we wanted to.We had a great season, but five words. Good is not good enough.”
Clemson was more than good. They were great in winning their second national title in three years.
Said Swinney:”But tonight there is no doubt. First 15-0 team. Beat Notre Dame, and we beat Alabama to do it. This team won 13 games by twenty points or more.”
