Google investigates Google Doc scam
Nashville, Tenn (WDEF) – Google confirmed it was investigating a phishing scam on Wednesday afternoon.
“It has been said that those targeted by the scam will receive an email for a Google Doc invitation from a person they’ve messaged in the past. However, when the target tries to access the email, it spreads the scam to every person the target has ever messaged.” writes Nashville CBS affiliate writer, Alex Hider.
Google has not confirmed who is behind the phishing email, but has encouraged users not to click the link and to report it to Gmail.
We are investigating a phishing email that appears as Google Docs. We encourage you to not click through, & report as phishing within Gmail.
