Gordon Lee Middle Honored for Math

CHICKAMAUGA, Ga. (WDEF) – It was a proud day at Gordon Lee Middle School as Georgia’s State Superintendent Richard Woods made a special stop to celebrate student success.

The school was honored with the Math Leader Award—an achievement that highlights outstanding growth in math performance.

Based on last year’s Georgia Milestones scores, Gordon Lee showed major improvements across all grade levels in math.

From sixth to eighth grade, and even in high school-level Algebra I, the number of students scoring proficient or higher saw significant increases compared to the previous year.

The ceremony took place in the school gym, where students and staff gathered to mark the accomplishment.

The award reflects the hard work of both teachers and students, as well as a school-wide commitment to academic growth.

Educators credit the success to a more focused approach to instruction, targeted student support, and an effort to make math more engaging.

Gordon Lee Middle is now one of just a few schools statewide to receive the Math Leader Award, proving that with dedication and teamwork, big progress is possible.
