Gov. Lee appoints local judge to lead Commission on Children and Youth

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Governor Bill Lee has appointed Judge Robert Philyaw to serve as chair of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth.

He is a Juvenile Court Judge in Hamilton County.

Judge Philyaw has been on the Commission since its beginning in 2020.

It is an independent agency set up by state lawmakers to improve children and families programs in Tennessee.

“Judge Philyaw has brought such a valuable perspective of youth justice during his time serving as a commission member. His passion and experience surrounding youth justice will continue to be integral to the work of the commission,” said Richard Kennedy, executive director of Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth.
