Growing Christmas Lights Display Draws Crowds

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) – What began as a small Christmas light display has grown into a must-see holiday attraction in Ooltewah.

A family on Sarah Drive has been decorating their home for nearly a decade, but the display has expanded dramatically over the last four years.

With more time to dedicate to the project, the homeowner began adding more figures and lighting elements… something his children eagerly anticipate each Christmas season.

Today, the display features an estimated 20,000 to 25,000 lights and runs nightly from 5:30 p.m. to midnight.

The attraction has become so large that nearby neighbors have volunteered their yards to help accommodate the growing setup.

One of the biggest crowd favorites is the Letters to Santa mailbox, which encourages children to stop by and drop off their holiday wishes.

The addition helped bring even more families to the display, despite its tucked-away location at the back of the neighborhood.

Beyond spreading holiday cheer, the family has also used the display as a way to give back.

Over the past three years, they’ve raised money for several local charities, this year they’re aiming to raise 1000$ for the Chattanooga Forgotten Child fund…Turning a love for Christmas into meaningful community impact.

The light display is free to visit and located at 5725 Sarah Drive in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
