Grundy County Baseball & Softball Teams hold “Pink Out” Games to fund Miracle Field
Grundy County, TN (WDEF) Grundy County High School baseball and softball players will take the field with heavy hearts tonight.
Last month, the school’s Librarian, 41-year old Audrey Nunley lost her battle with cancer. Just before her diagnosis, Audrey and her husband Keith started a campaign to build an all inclusive park with a baseball field where children with special needs could play America’s past time. Keith made her a promise that the field would become a reality. Their 8-year old son Grant has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheel chair.
The Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball and Softball teams dedicated their seasons to Nunley. Tonight, all four teams will be in action playing in “pink out” games. No gate fee will be charged to attend, but donations will be accepted. All proceeds from donations, concessions profit, and Mrs. Audrey t-shirt sales will be put toward the Miracle on the Mountain Play Outside Park.
First pitch at the JV Baseball game takes place at at 5:00 p.m. Central with the Varsity game to follow. The Varsity Softball game also starts at 5:00 p.m. Central with JV to follow. Pay close attention to when the baseball teams break huddle. The teams replaced their traditional “Go Jackets” breakdown this season with “Mrs. Audrey.”
This Saturday, the community will break ground on the Miracle on the Mountain Play Outside Park at 10:00am Central. It will be located across the street from Grundy County High School.
