Habitat for Humanity set to build new subdivision in Cleveland

The non-profit will build 16 new homes in the next 3 years.

Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday afternoon for a new subdivision.

The new subdivision is Morelock Meadows, named after Jeff Morelock, the nonprofit’s late board president. The new project will place sixteen Bradley County families into homes. The first five homes are expected to be completed by November. Morelock Meadows as a whole will take approximately three years to complete.

Meta McGuire is a Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland board member. She said this is the first time they will be building a multi-family home.

“We just had a great celebration with many city officials out here. This year we will be building five new homes. One single family home and a town home that has four families in it. So, we’re really excited about the groundbreaking today.”

Anyone wishing to donate their time and effort can join a building crew.
