Hamilton Co. Commissioners Override Mayor’s Budget Veto

Chattanooga (WDEF) Hamilton County Commissioners are determined to hold on to their discretionary spending fund.

The Commission voted 6-3 this morning to override Mayor Jim Coppinger’s veto of the amended 2016 budget.

Two days ago the mayor vetoed the amended budget, saying there was no funding for the 900-thousand dollars.

The commission wants to get it from the rainy day fund.

Wednesday’s vote was the same as their amended budget, 6 to 3.

Supporting the discretionary fund were commissioners Bankston, Boyd, Fairbanks, Mackey, Smedley and Fields.

Graham, Haynes and Beck supported the mayor.
