Hamilton County audit committee holds first meeting
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A new audit committee to review spending of the Hamilton County government met for the first time Thursday.
The five person council led by UTC professor Amie Haun discussed how they will be organized and which issues they wanted to tackle first.
One such issue is how citizens can report potential violations to an auditor.
Currently, the county website has a link to report such occurrences to the state comptroller or the county auditor can receive tips via email.
The committee however, may seek to change this.
Haun said, “I think that definitely needs to be updated and changed. Based on how the system works for the city, I almost think it’s probably a little more efficient and probably notifies parties that would need to know sooner, because there is a delay oftentimes on you getting information, correct?”
She says she has already spoken with vendors about upgrading this system.
