Hamilton County Courts hold Murder Case hearing on Monday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- An eight year old murder case is slowly working through Hamilton County courts.
“After the homicide Murder of Bianca Norton happen is when is when I was requested by the FBI’s supervisor at the time to come on on a special assignment to help investigate the case,” said Jeremy Winbush, Chattanooga Police Department
A judge heard motions Monday in the case against Andre Grier and accused three gang members charged with killing Bianca Horton in 2016.
Horton was set to testify against gang Leader Cortez Sims, but shortly before that trial, Horton’s body was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
As a part of Monday’s Court Hearing, Winbush says the Cell Phone data provided insight for the case.
“We conduct or ride search warrant or application in this course, in this case, for tower dump to provide us a lead to follow, to establish some type of lead in a case,” said Winbush.
Winbush says this process was used to find Horton’s location geographically.
“We narrowed down the location for her work, as a time she would have been there, as well as when she would have gotten home, and then the time frame of where her body was found by a witness in the window when she would have possibly been taken there are our times,” WinBush said.
Winbush outlined the months of hard work this investigation took.
“We conducted multiple interviews. We looked at a lot of open source data. We looked at Tennessee state driver’s license history to find out locations, Hamilton county Tax Assessor, see if she owned a home, there were multiple things we did, this was several months of investigation,” Winbush concluded.
Grier’s next hearing is set for March with a trial scheduled for October.
