Hamilton County FD assisted in Hiwassee Packaging fire

DAYTON, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County and Dayton City Fire Departments assisted in putting out a fire at a Hiwassee Packaging’s building Saturday afternoon.

On the morning of July 27, 2024, an off-duty firefighter noticed smoke coming from one of the Hiwassee Packaging’s buildings.

Dayton City FD, along with Hamilton County FD, Hamilton County and Rhea County EMS, and many other first responded arrived on scene to assist.

It was determined that two fires were active inside the building.  Firefighters successfully extinguished both fires around 1:25 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation
