Hamilton County Health Department Pushes to Get More Kids Vaccinated

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Health Department is making a push to get more kids vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Barger Academy of Fine Arts hosted the county’s third school vaccination event Wednesday afternoon. Parents from all over the area made 180 appointments for their children, and walk-ins were welcome. The Health Department plans to do even more events like this.

Layra Navarro-Flores, Community Health Manager for Hamilton County Health Department, said, “Our goal is to have at least one vaccine clinic in at least each learning community, and that is to increase accessibility for families that may not be able to travel outside of that district.”

Health officials believe the Omicron variant will be on its way out of Chattanooga by late February.
