Hamilton County School Board Hosts Work Session Tonight

Ooltewah, TN (WDEF) – It’s back to business for Superintendent Rick Smith, after school board members voted against his contract buyout earlier this week.

In fact, Hamilton County School Board members also seem to be getting back into the swing of things, by holding a work session tonight to discuss the 2016-2017 county budget, and proposed school zone changes.

“We’re moving forward, and we’re doing the work of the school system,” said board member, George Ricks, “We’re trying to make things better for our kids, and we think that we made some corrections that needed to be corrected, and so we have to keep to continue to dream big and stay positive.”

A new salary scale that could give teachers a pay raise, and increased wages for cafeteria workers in the future were also discussed tonight.
