Hamilton County Schools to Hire Search Firm to Find New Superintendent

Chattanooga (WDEF) Hamilton County School leaders will spend tens of thousands of dollars to find a new superintendent.

Rick Smith retired earlier this year after facing criticism over the way he handled the Ooltewah High School assault case. During a called meeting, school board members heard from three search firms about how they would find talented candidates. That search could take up to six-months.

The school board also voted to purchase land next to Ooltewah High School for the girl’s soccer team to avoid a Title-IX lawsuit and elected Steve Highlander as their new chair.
