Hamilton County Schools touches on safety following GA shooting

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Hamilton County Schools Superintendent, Justin Robertson released a message touching on the safety in our schools after the fatal school shooting in Georgia.

The message begins by saying, “Safety is the highest priority for Hamilton County Schools and the heaviest burden that we carry as a school system. As a father I also deeply understand our community’s concerns,” wrote Robertson.

He continues on to say that events like this can cause “fear, anxiety, and uncertainty” and wants to reassure parents that Hamilton County Schools have safety protocols in place to keep kids safe.

Robertson also touches on the multiple reports of threats in Hamilton County Schools.

“As a community, we have seen numerous reports of threats of mass violence.  This school year, updated state law requires any threat of mass violence, regardless of intent or ability to carry out, to now be charged as a felony.”
