Hamilton County SWAT incident in Ooltewah resolved

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office provided more information into the SWAT standoff Thursday morning. Residents near Cobblestone Hill Drive reported shots fired, including a person walking through the neighborhood firing a rifle.

Deputies said once they arrived, the suspect had returned to his home with his weapon.

The sheriff’s office identified the suspect as 64-year-old Steve Garrison.

Authorities said they set up a perimeter around his home to ensure he did not leave again. Hours later, HCSO said Garrison came out of his house and turned himself in.

They are charging him with two counts of felony reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

HCSO asked residents to shelter in place during the incident for their safety.

SWAT standoff on Cobblestone Hill Drive

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a SWAT incident Thursday morning.

The HCSO posted to social media that the incident happened near the 9200 block of Cobblestone Hill Drive. This location is just off Ooltewah-Ringgold Road.

At the time, around 8 a.m., deputies asked drivers to avoid the area.

Additionally, the HCSO asked local residents to shelter in place until further notice.

By around 10 a.m., the sheriff’s office said the SWAT incident was resolved.

Residents no longer needed to shelter in place afterward.
