Hamilton County Will Begin Issuing Same Sex Marriage Licenses

County Clerk Bill Knowles says his office has been informed by the state that they may begin issuing them immediately.

The first marriages have already begun this afternoon in Atlanta, Nashville and Memphis. 

The Tennessee Attorney General will make it official this afternoon, but the local office has been told not to wait for the press conference.

Governor Bill Haslam issued a statement this morning saying the state will comply with the Supreme court ruling and will move quickly to do so.
