Hamilton County woods fire spans 40 acres over 8 hour period
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A woods fire burned for eight hours in Ooltewah on Wednesday.
The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) said they started battling the flames around 2:30 p.m. They finally left the scene at 10:30 p.m. that night.
The fire burned up a hill, and stretched about 40 acres, according to the fire department.
Crews even asked for help from the Tennessee Forestry Division. Wind conditions were causing the fire to spread rapidly.
Those battling the fire used bulldozers, UTVs and brush trucks, since the fire was mostly off-road.
No one was injured from the fire, and no buildings were involved either.
However, the Forestry Division returned to the scene on Thursday morning to continue working the scene.
