HCSO Investigates Chattanooga Police Department Shots Fired Incident

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF)- According to Hamilton County Sheriffs Office, on Friday, June 17, at the request of the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Services personnel responded to the 700 block of North Germantown Road to investigate the circumstances surrounding the events of a shots fired incident involving Chattanooga Police personnel.

Preliminary information at the scene indicates a Chattanooga Police Officer was struck by a fleeing vehicle and during the course of the incident, shots were fired.
The officer struck by the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
At this time, preliminary information indicates that despite shots being fired, no one was injured.
Once the investigation has concluded, the HCSO Investigative Services will turn their findings over to the District Attorney for review.
The HCSO does not identify the officers involved in these types of incidents and instead refers questions of that nature to the respective agency to answer as it sees fit.
As this is an ongoing investigation at the request of the District Attorney’s Office, no further details will be released at this time.
