HCSO K-9 Deputy Nero goes into retirement

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A Hamilton County Sheriff’s Officer  (HCSO) K-9 Deputy named Nero is headed into retirement.

Nero has served with HCSO for seven years, starting in May of 2018.

This K-9 has had a very successful career with handler Deputy Andrew Voss.

Some of Nero’s career highlights include the following:

  • Spent over 568 hours assisting other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies
  • Helped seize over $278,000 in cash
  • Made over (80) Felony Arrests
  • Located over 12 Pounds of Heroin/Fentanyl
  • Located over 39 Pounds of Methamphetamine
  • Located over 24 Pounds of Marijuana
  • Located over (20) Firearms
  • Conducted over 30 building and 220 vehicle searches
  • Assisted our SWAT Team over 140 times
  • Helped the K-9 Unit issue over 1,000 Traffic Warnings
