Heartfelt Homecoming for Skyla
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – The two year old who went missing more than two weeks ago is at home with her mother tonight.
The child was taken by her biological father, who now faces a felony charge.
Thanks to one extremely helpful tip, authorities say they found little Skyla Wilson and her father, Michael Wilson, during a traffic stop more than 15-hundred miles away in Grand Junction Colorado.
Two-year-old Skyla Wilson is finally home, safe and sound after she disappeared more than two weeks ago.
“She’s talking, watching TV and eating heresy’s kisses at moderate speed,” says Clara Hanacek, Skyla’s grandmother.
“The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is extremely grateful for her safe return, and I know her family is no longer troubled with the thoughts of not knowing her location,” says Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson,
He traveled with Skyla’s grandmother to Grand Junction Colorado Thursday to bring the toddler back to Cleveland, after her biological father, Michael Wilson, picked her up from a birthday party and never brought her back.
“We anticipate Michael Wilson, to return back to Bradley County within the next few weeks,” the Sheriff says.
Once he returns, Wilson will face a serious felony charge of Aggravated Kidnapping, which was just recently changed from a lower felony charge of Custodial Interference
“Aggravated Kidnapping, I believe, is a C felony. So it does hold somewhat more significant punishment if he were to be found guilty of the aggravated kidnapping charge,” says Detective Dewayne Scoggins.
“She’s home safe, and I thank the Lord for that, and these gentlemen behind us–all the people that kept their eyes open, and prayers going up, Facebook friends, everybody. They just joined us in bringing Skyla home,” says Skyla’s grandmother.
“I tell you God’s good, and I’m glad–so thankful that this turned out to be a happy ending,” adds Sheriff Watson.
