Highway 68 reopens in Rhea County after slide in April

SPRING CITY, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation has finished rebuilding a mountain road in Rhea County.

A lane of State Route 68 slid down the mountain this spring, cutting off the Grandview community on top of the mountain from Spring City below.

TDOT had reduced traffic to one way during the construction project, but had to block it off again this week to finish up.

But the highway was reopened just after midnight, with just some finishing touches being put on it today.
