Hixson house fire results in death of 4 dogs
HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) — Four dogs died in a Hixson house fire on Friday, Hamilton County authorities said.
The Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management said the fire took place at a home at 9330 Chirping Road in the Sedman Hills community.
Dallas Bay volunteer firefighters were on the scene battling the fire.
They said a neighbor heard the smoke alarm going off and called 911.
Firefighters could not see smoke from the road, but said they quickly extinguished the blaze upon arrival.
No one was home at the time of the fire. However, four dogs died from smoke inhalation, firefighters said.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will investigate to determine what caused the fire.
Firefighters said it did originate downstairs.
They said structural damage was limited.
However, smoke damage was severe, estimated by firefighters at $80,000.
