Hixson McDonald’s employee robbed at gunpoint outside restaurant; one suspect in custody
HIXSON, Tennessee, (WDEF) – A Chattanooga man is jail after reportedly robbing a McDonald’s manager at gunpoint as she exited the restaurant.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by News 12, the crime happened Thursday afternoon outside the McDonald’s restaurant in the 4100 block of Hixson Pike, but the suspect wasn’t arrested until Friday night.
The restaurant manager told police she was walking to her vehicle with the restaurant bank deposit when she was approached by a man armed with a black semi-automatic pistol. She said the man pointed the gun at her and took the bank deposit bag and ran off behind the restaurant into a wooded area.
According to the arrest affidavit, the suspect was seen on surveillance video getting out of a dark colored SUV which had been parked in the restaurant parking lot for more than 30 minutes. The SUV left the scene at a high rate of speed after the suspect got out and approached the manager.
A witness was able to get the tag number of the SUV and police traced that tag back to a residence where the SUV was later located.
The suspect who was later identified as Tracy Penson, 19, admitted to police that he was the driver of the SUV which the robber exited.
His bond was set at $75,000 and his next court date is August 23.
There’s no word on the second suspect who pulled the gun.
