Home burns and then explodes early Monday morning in Rossville

ROSSVILLE, Georgia (WDEF) A home is a total loss after an early morning fire in the Rossville area on Memorial Day.

The family was away on vacation for the holiday.

Neighbors on Caramel Lane were awakened by two large explosions around 2:30 AM.

But the house was already fully involved by fire by that point.

Firefighters evacuated neighbors on the block because of the heat from the flames.

Both of the homes on either side were damaged by the intense heat.

And neighbors tell us you could feel the heat from the flames up to a block away.

The home was up for sale at the time.

Neighbors say they will help the family out with clothing and other needs.

The interview in the video is with Jack Rowan who lives two doors down and had to evacuate.
