Homeless Man Prepares for Cold Weather

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Extremely cold temperatures are headed our way this weekend, getting as low as 10 degrees.

For those without a home this holiday season, keeping warm is their utmost priority.

Walter Hairston, a local man who has been homeless for almost eight months, has been struggling.

He has been burning hand sanitizer and other alcohol based liquids to keep himself warm.

“This is all we have. This is the only way we can keep warm,” Hairston said, pointing to a flaming frying pan filled with hand sanitizer.

To help those keep warm this winter, please consider donating old jackets, coats, and blankets to CHATT Foundation, formerly known as Community Kitchen.
