Homeless woman raped, suspect in custody
Christopher Turner, 41, of Chattanooga is facing one count of rape along with assault and retaliation against a judge.
Saturday night, offices were called to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen to meet with an alleged female rape victim. When they arrived, the woman told them that Turner raped her inside a homeless camp near the 600 block of East 10th street.
The victim reportedly told police she was drinking with two other people inside a tent then fell asleep. When she woke up, she said she was wearing different clothes.
Witnesses told police that on the night in question, they heard Turner call her out of her tent to his tent.
According to the arrest report, Turner reportedly told a witness that he performed sex acts on the woman and engaged in intercourse with her. The same witness also reportedly told officer that Turner had recently been assaulting and threatening the victim on numerous occasions.
Another witness told police that he observed Turner pulling the the victim by her arm earlier in the day.
Right before Turner was taken into custody, he reportedly threatened to kill the woman.
Turner denied the allegations when asked by police.
Once he was transported to the Hamilton County jail, Turner reportedly threatened to assault the arresting officer.
Turner’s next court date is October 20.
